What to do in Fredericksburg, Texas?
Q. My husband and I visited Fredericksburg recently for a wedding, but only briefly and didn't do anything there. We saw plenty of shops and a war museum, and of course there are the wineries, so we're going there for our vacation. We'd like to stay at a B&B, but because of cost may do a regular hotel instead. Probably about 3 to 4 days total. So which winery tours are the best? What else can we do there? Any suggestions on where we stay? Thanks.

A. You might want to check out the Days Inn & Suites -- it's ranked #9 over at TripAdvisor, but gets good reviews. Hope that helps! edited to add: fixed link.

What are your top five places to visit in Texas?
Q. My wife and I frequently travel to TX to visit my family. They live in the Houston area. Next time we go there, I'm going to travel to Dallas and do one huge JFK assassination pilgrimage. Going to TX has become something I really enjoy. Here are my five, from bottom to top: 5. Texas state Capitol - Austin 4. San Jacinto Monument/Battleship TX - LaPorte 3. Galveston Beach - Galveston County 2. The Alamo - San Antonio (hint - go late at night when the most of the tourist traps are closed - the lights on the shrine reflect the bullet holes. You can really feel that an intense battle took place) 1. Fredericksburg - Very interesting WWII museum, birth place of Admiral Chester Nimitz, lots of good German restaurants and beautiful… [cont.]

A. 08/29/2005 : 11:18:43 Well guys we have some good news on Akili. The rehab center where he is at in Austin is continuously looking after him and making sure they do everything they can to help him recover. He is now coughing on his own and starting to hold his head up. The latest tests run on him have showed that both sides of his brain are showing brain waves compared to the hospital saying that half of his brain was gone. This is a huge plus for Akili. This is the latest on Mr.Gray and I will continue to keep you updated on his condition.

Best Texas Wine Trail?
Q. I been around the Fredericksburg Trail, and that was fun. Even been to the Grapevine Grapefest. If you are a fan of Texas wines, and been around on the various trails, which would be the best one?

A. I think Fredricksburg is the best. Messina Hoff has a great tour-so does Llano (wines, not the town.) Next I want to go to the winery near Del Rio but I can't remember what it's called.

How much more different is the GED testing compared to if I actually...?
Q. Now that I am of legal age I will be able to complete highschool. It seems odd that I have not been given much support from family. Anyways. My question is, How much more different is the GED testing compared to if I actually go back and receive my Diploma from a highschool? I want to do this the right way, so that way i will be accepted to a good University. And also, I really do want to stay home, but since that wont happen, may you be able to provide me with some information on some kind of financial stability, like money use? Bills? Reant? I just would really appreciate updated information, if possible. Facts are also important. I really appreciate any information, thank you! I live in Fredericksburg, Texas. And also, I found out… [cont.]

A. if u actually can go to a high school and finish that way it is the better way. how much did u actually finish before you dropped out or whatever? if u dont have that many courses to take, well even if you do, go to a real high school and get the real diploma. i mean yes a ged diploma is technically equivalent to a regular diploma u get from going to high school, but really when it comes to going to a university or whatever kind of post secondary, it can be more difficult to get in to. because with a ged diploma, the weighing is different, you get some kind of score or something like that which not all university or colledges accept, or theyre scores that you need to get in are too high. and the ged diploma is the lower class of the… [cont.]

How do I plan a small, cheap wedding?
Q. I want an outdoor wedding, we're looking Septemberish, I want to spend as little as possible, and hope to keep it small. I live in San Antonio Texas. What are some things you think I should know? Any good, cheap places here in SAT? How about just general wedding planning? Here's what I thought of so far: My dress (what girl hasn't), my bridesmaids dresses (only 2 bridesmaids), who I'll invite, having the wedding outside of SAT (maybe in Fredericksburg) that way people can't say we didn't invite them, but that'll severly limit the # of people who actually do go, invitations, engagement pictures, wedding cake, location for wedding and reception, flowers (don't really want any), honeymoon locations (the closer the better). Basically we… [cont.]

A. If you're open to buying a used dress, look online. I checked our local Craigslist and got an excellent condition designer Maggie Sottero gown for only $350! Going green and saving money! If you're wedding is fairly relaxed, you could have your bridesmaids buy their own dresses. Just tell them the color it needs to be, and they can pick their own style/dress. That way, they feel more as though it's for them, it's their style, and they can wear it more than once. That's what I'm doing for my wedding in July, and my bridesmaids definetly appreciate it. Consider baking the cake yourself, or, doing wedding cupcakes. If you DO hire someone to do it, DON'T tell them it's for a wedding. I've found people automatically charge more for… [cont.]
