Can anyone suggest some neat things to do or see along the way to the Grand Canyon from South Texas?
Q. A couple friends and I are going on a road trip to the Grand Canyon from south Texas. We re going to take a northern route one way and a southern route the other way. Can anyone suggest some neat things to do or see along the way? Any neat landmarks, caverns, any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

A. Sunset Crater/Wupatki National Monument northeast of Flagstaff (on US 89) Walnut Canyon (cliff dwellings) east of Flagstaff Petrified Forest The Zuni Pueblo (south of Gallup) for silver and turquoise craft shopping El Morro and El Malpais National Monuments (south of Grants) The "Sky City" Acoma Pueblo Old Town in Albuquerque Sandia Peak northeast of Albuquerque Roswell's UFO Museum Carlsbad Caverns Monahans Sandhills (if you take the back road from Carlsbad to Monahans via Jal, you'll see some awesome alkali flats) Enchanted Rock between Llano and Fredericksburg Pedernales Falls near Marble Falls, TX Lost Maples State Park near Vanderpool (kinda out of the way, but beautiful in the autumn)
